How crypto tracing works on-chain
What public blockchain data can and cannot establish.
Starting point
Analysis begins with a known transaction or address, network and time of the incident.
Transaction graph
The flow can be mapped across incoming and outgoing transactions, smart contracts, bridges and exchange-related addresses.
Attribution
Some addresses can be linked to known services. Linking an address to a specific person usually requires additional evidence.
Limitations
Mixers, privacy tools, cross-chain swaps and non-custodial services can make tracing more complex. Good reporting should state these limitations clearly.
Need a review of a specific transaction?
A short description and public blockchain data are enough for an initial assessment. Never send seed phrases or private keys.
